VR Neighborhood was a technically ambitious social VR application created to let future homeowners experience residential designs before construction. Users could walk through full-scale homes, customize interior materials and finishes in real time, play games, and meet other people inside shared virtual spaces. It shipped publicly on Meta Quest, and the world-building technology, interactive content, and spatial systems developed for VR Neighborhood became one of the foundations Edenseek is built on today.

The through-line

From architecture practice to Edenseek Spatial

Edenseek didn't start from scratch. VR Neighborhood was the first public implementation of ideas that had been developing for years — a straight line from an architecture practice to the immersive platform Edenseek is building now.

Architecture Practice

It began with a simple question: what if homeowners could experience their future home before deciding to build it? Rather than relying on renderings alone, clients could inhabit full-scale residential designs, explore every room, and make design decisions before construction ever began.

Residential Digital Twins

Those designs became real-time, walkable digital twins — full-scale homes you could step inside, measure, and evaluate in context, not just view as static imagery.

VR Neighborhood

That idea evolved into VR Neighborhood — a publicly released Meta Quest experience featuring real-time multiplayer residential digital twins. Users could walk through homes at full scale, customize materials and interior finishes, interact with other visitors, and experience architecture as a shared virtual environment.

Edenseek Spatial

The same world-building technology, interactive content, and spatial systems now continue as Edenseek Spatial — where immersive technology, artificial intelligence, and storytelling come together to create the next generation of interactive publishing.


The experience

A home to inhabit, not just observe

VR Neighborhood treated residential architecture as a living place. Inside the platform, visitors could:

The technology

A spatial platform, built to ship

This wasn't a concept demo. VR Neighborhood was a publicly released architectural visualization and social computing platform, running on real hardware and backed by production infrastructure.

Public Meta Quest release

Released publicly on Meta Quest App Lab and distributed through SideQuest — installed and used on real headsets by real people, not just demoed in the lab.

Multiplayer at scale

An AWS GameLift backend powered real-time multiplayer networking and an avatar system, so visitors could tour and evaluate homes together in the same shared space.

Real-time digital twins

Built in Unreal Engine with live wall-color and material customization, built-in measurement tools, and dynamic environmental audio — residential architecture rendered and reshaped on the fly.

The legacy

The platform that became Edenseek

Those same ideas continue today inside Edenseek, where immersive technology, artificial intelligence, and storytelling come together to create the next generation of interactive publishing.

VR Neighborhood was an ambitious exploration of immersive architecture, real-time multiplayer technology, and social computing. Its technology, world-building systems, and interactive content became one of the foundations Edenseek is built on today.

VR Neighborhood, Inc. was accepted into the NVIDIA Inception program, recognizing the project's technical ambition in real-time graphics, simulation, visualization, and immersive computing.

Company paper · 2021 VR Neighborhood Herald, Vol. 1 — 2021 Published before VR Neighborhood's Mensa Annual Gathering presentation in Houston, this early company paper captured the project's original metaverse vision, residential architecture focus, and creative worldbuilding. The Herald is also where several Edenseek threads first crossed. Inspired by Egypt the Cat — created by Edenseek co-founder Ness Uskert — the paper folded in original cartoons and comic art. Its short story, written by Chris Mosley, later grew into the comic series I Ride for Them, drawn by Giulia Gualazzi, who went on to create many of Edenseek's early covers, including Society of Killers #2. Egypt the Cat and I Ride for Them #1 went on sale together at New York Comic Con 2022 — Edenseek's first public-facing event.

VR Neighborhood was the first public implementation of ideas that continue today as Edenseek Spatial — the continuation of years of experimentation in immersive technology.
